Head Coach Maya Kennedy De Anda is entering her 11th year of coaching and her fifth year at Los Alamitos, where she teaches English III and World Literature. She led the team to back to back Surf League Championships in the 22-23 & 23-24 seasons. Prior to coaching at Los Alamitos, De Anda was an Assistant Coach for two years at Vanguard University in Costa Mesa. In 2018-19, she also was an Assistant Coach for Girls Varsity Basketball at Pacifica Christian High School in Newport Beach. Coach De Anda was a standout player at Vanguard University from 2012 to 2017. De Anda also has coached youth basketball and middle school Girls Basketball at Huntington Christian School and Newport Ensign Middle School. A three-year starter, she played extensively at point guard and shooting guard and led the Lions in three-point shooting each season. As a team captain in her senior season, De Anda made 66 three-pointers at a 36 percent clip and was second on the team in scoring (9.7 points per game), as Vanguard went 30-4, captured the GSAC Conference Championship, and made it to the Fab Four at the NAIA National Tournament. In high school, De Anda was a four-year starter and two-year captain at Huntington Beach High School, earning three First Team All-League awards and two All-CIF awards. In her senior season (2012), she also was honored at her school with the Marine Corp Distinguished Athlete Award as she averaged 13.5 points per game to help the Oilers (26-6) win the Sunset League Championship and make it to the CIF 1A Southern Section Championship game. A Scholar Athlete in high school and college, De Anda graduated Magna Cum Laude from Vanguard University with Bachelor of Arts degrees in both English and Psychology. She earned a single-subject teaching credential in English from Concordia University and completed the Concordia’s Master’s program in Coaching and Exercise Science in the summer of 2021.

Coach Patrick Kennedy is entering his tenth year of coaching basketball and his fourth year at Los Alamitos High School. He previously coached three years of NJB & All-Net girls basketball and four years (2014-18) of middle school boys basketball (winter seasons) and girls basketball (fall seasons) at Huntington Christian School in Huntington Beach. In 2018-19, he was the lead assistant coach of the Girls Varsity Basketball for Brock Lewis at Pacifica Christian High School. Pacifica Christian went 9-0 in league (12-4 overall), won the Western League championship and played in Division 5A CIF playoffs. His daughters, Danielle and Maya, were both First Team All-Sunset League basketball players in high school and went on to have standout playing careers at Biola and Vanguard universities respectively. Coach Patrick's day job is professor of English at Orange Coast College.

Coach Dylyn Payne is in her second year of coaching girls basketball. A Los Alamitos High School alum, Payne played three seasons on varsity, including two years under the guidance of Head Coach Maya Kennedy De Anda from 2019 to 2021. Coach Dylyn Payne is in her second year of coaching girls basketball. A Los Alamitos High School alum, Payne played three seasons on varsity, including two years under the guidance of Head Coach Maya Kennedy De Anda from 2019 to 2021. During her high school career, she was a three-year starter, a two-time team captain, and a skilled point guard, leading the team with an average of 15 points per game. Her outstanding play earned her MVP honors for two seasons and First Team All-Surf League recognition.
Following high school, Payne continued her basketball journey at Santa Ana College, where she played for three years, serving as team captain for two seasons. She maintained an impressive 14 points per game with a 41 percent field goal average, all while continuing to lead her team as point guard. Payne’s competitive experience as a player has deeply influenced her approach to coaching.
An accomplished scholar-athlete, Payne achieved honor roll status throughout high school and for two years in college. She graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Kinesiology and plans to further her education in physical training and sports medicine.
Coach Ashley Lewan has over four years of coaching experience in girls' sports, ranging from middle school to high school including private training sessions for athletes of all ages. As a former soccer athlete, Lewan specializes in strength and conditioning. Lewan has extensive experience working with athletes to improve their quickness,

Lewan has extensive experience working with athletes to improve their quickness, strength, and stamina, through breathing techniques, agility drills, and player specific adjustments. Lewan earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice Administration from Cal State Dominguez Hills, where she graduated magna cum laude. Lewan also works as a sales research analyst for a staffing agency, where she combines her analytical skills with her love for mentorship and development in women’s sports.
